    FAMILY DAY

Yesterday my sister in law, Jane, and I went to Charlottesville to visit my Uncle Woods.  Yes, her name is Jane and she's also married to a man named Bob.  This makes for some confusing times when we're all together and we have to be very careful when putting tags on Christmas gifts.

In the past we have gone on lots of adventures together but for the last few years Jane and her husband have been the main caretakers for my mother in law during her Alzheimer's.  Now she is able to leave the house more and we really enjoyed our day.  We took back roads and drove through small towns-much different from the direct interstate trip our husbands would have taken.

Jane met my Uncle Woods at Rob's wedding and enjoyed his company so we had a fine time visiting with him before taking him out to lunch.  Uncle Woods is very proud of  UVa and after lunch he took us on a tour of the Lawn and the room that Edgar Allen Poe lived in.  We also took a drive past the first home my parents lived in when they were first married and my father attended UVa.  We also had a chance to make a quick visit with my cousin Patty's sweet son, Greg, at his work.

After leaving Uncle Woods Jane and I wanted to try to meet Patty on the road somewhere.  She was in Culpeper visiting her mother and needed to drive through Charlottesville on her way home.  Since Patty and I wanted to visit the new Ruckersville yarn shop, Pins and Needles, we decided to both go there and hope that our visits overlapped and we'd get a moment to visit.  I really wanted to see Patty even though we'll spend New Years together at Wintergreen with Jimmy and Donna.  We were all amazed when we pulled into the parking lot of the yarn store at the same time!  It was meant to be.

Jane and me in front of my favorite thing-a new yarn store!!!!

Jane is such a good sport being a non-knitter in the yarn store!  She had fun looking around but it didn't make her feel the need to start knitting right away.  Patty and I saw LOTS of great yarns, patterns, and notions along with a wonderful yarn store owner, Kathy.  If you are ever in the Charlottesville area you need to visit this cute shop!

Neither Patty nor I left empty handed.  We both got some beautiful yarn to make our own Just Enough Ruffles scarves.

I was too tired when I got home to venture out again to Knit Night.  I really miss knitting on Tuesdays and can't wait to go back in 2009.  I don't have a clue what everyone is knitting!

I have made good progress on my sweater that will be my first FO of 2009.

This is the back and both fronts of Lizzy that I'm knitting withTaos.  I love this yarn and will finish it so quickly...just the sleeves and the ruffles to go.  I have some car knitting to do today.  It will be great to complete my first of the 12 sweaters I want to finish in 2009!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!

I loved my visit to Pins & Needles also! Such a nice selection of yarns ... cool, expensive ones and cool, inexpensive ones!

    Happy New Year, Jane!

    fondly,

What a fun trip! I will be sure to visit that yarn shop when I get the chance.

    Happy "Knit" Year!!

    What a great day!!
Hope you are having a good time at Wintergreen. Say Happy New Year to everyone!!
